In the heart of the Vieux-Lévis (Old Lévis), the Terrasse du Chevalier-de-Lévis becomes a pedestrian farmers market every Sunday in summer. Organized by the Patro de Lévis, the Marché fermier Ostara showcases local products from Chaudière-Appalaches and the surrounding area in a community spirit: the Patro presents it as a celebration of Quebec agriculture and local products, where people also come for the pleasure of getting together.

Why go? To do your market shopping on a Sunday morning, on foot, while meeting the people who produce what ends up on your plate. The market’s listing with the Association des Marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ), Quebec’s public market association, also mentions an arts program and cooking workshops with producers and restaurant owners.

More than 60 vendors over the summer

In 2026, the Patro published a list of 62 vendors, present on one or more dates. According to the AMPQ, the market has 24 to 29 booths, including more than twenty local food producers. The range is wide: fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, charcuterie, cheese, fish and seafood, bread and pastries, honey and maple syrup, jams and pickles, herbs, flowers and plants, prepared meals, tea and coffee, non-timber forest products and alcoholic beverages.

The 2026 list includes, among others, Fromagerie Les Vagabondes, Boulangerie Le Joyeux Pétrin, Fraisière Garneau, Verger de Beausoleil, Ferme Milpa, Ferme des cent acres, Notre terre paysanne coop and Projet miel, not to mention Café Blou and Tambour Café. Artisans, two alpaca businesses, the Cercle de fermières Lévis-Est, and the Patro’s own Fab Lab Creatio and Tiers-Lieu round out the picture.

Holiday season: no market announced

Ostara is a summer market. The 2026 season was scheduled for 12 Sundays, from July 5 to September 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the August 9 market was cancelled. Neither the Patro de Lévis nor the AMPQ listing announces a Christmas or winter market. To follow announcements about next season, the market has a Facebook page and an Instagram account.
