In the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, Place des Festivals changes its look for the holiday season. The Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal, which the organizer calls the Great Christmas Market in English, returns there from November 13, 2026 to January 3, 2027, with 40 chalets of local or regional artisans and more than 50 Quebec artisans.
The event is organized by La Lutinerie, a Montréal non-profit that also runs the Village de Noël de Montréal on Place du Marché Atwater. Like all its events, the Great Christmas Market is free and open to everyone. It's an easy way to buy local for your holiday gifts; our article on the benefits of local markets explains why it matters.
What you'll find at the Great Christmas Market
The chalets host artisans from here, local or regional. The online exhibitor directory, still the one from the 2025 edition in mid-October, is divided into jewellery, drinks, cosmetics, decorations and miscellaneous items, children's items, food products, clothing and accessories, plus food vendors. On the food side, the organizer mentions mulled wine and other treats.
The Great Christmas Market also has a program: more than 150 free activities, musical and theatrical, and a signature show, "Noël à Montréal". Details are in the Programmation section of the event's website.
