The Marché de Noël européen de Saguenay, the city’s European-style Christmas market, sets up at the Place du Citoyen, on Rue Racine Est, in the Chicoutimi borough. The idea: to recreate the atmosphere of Europe’s Christmas markets with a village of wooden huts gathered at the foot of a big Christmas tree. Tourisme Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean announces artisans, local products, choirs, Christmas stories, mulled wine and grilled food.

Why go? To find gifts made by artisans, taste products from the region and enjoy a winter outing with the family, between two Christmas songs. Since the market runs over several long weekends, you have more than one chance to drop by.

Artisans, local products, mulled wine and grilled food

The sources consulted do not publish a list of exhibitors. Tourisme Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean mentions artisans and local products, and Sortir au Québec also mentions tastings, demonstrations, shows, children’s entertainment and illuminations, with a tasting area on site. To warm up, count on mulled wine and grilled food. And if you want to keep the celebration going at home, our traditional Quebec holiday recipes will give you ideas for putting local products on your réveillon menu.
