Marché de Noël de Val-David: some forty producers on two December Saturdays
On Saturdays, December 12 and 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., some forty producers and artisans set up at École Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Val-David. The market is run by Marchés d’Ici, the organization behind the village’s summer market, the first Slow Food "Earth Market" in Quebec.

On two Saturdays in December, École Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Val-David turns into a Christmas market. Some forty producers and artisans present hundreds of festive products there, according to the organizer, Marchés d'Ici. This non-profit runs six farmers' markets, from Val-David to Beauharnois, and the Val-David market is the oldest in the family.
The Christmas market has been around for 22 years. It was launched following the village's summer market, founded in 2000 by Diane Seguin, now executive director of Marchés d'Ici. Why go? To buy your gifts and your holiday meal directly from the people who make them, and to ask questions: vendors take the time to explain how to use their products.
What's on the tables
Marchés d'Ici doesn't publish a list of Christmas market vendors. Its page mentions hundreds of festive products, including treats made without preservatives, and new vendors joining year after year.
To give you an idea, in season the Val-David public market offers, according to the Association des marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ), fruit and vegetables, charcuterie, cheese, fish and seafood, bread and pastries, honey and maple syrup, prepared meals, meat and poultry, herbal teas and coffee, and even alcoholic beverages. The December selection may be different, but these are the kinds of products that make a good holiday basket. If you're planning your réveillon, take a look at our traditional Quebec holiday recipes.
Holiday season 2026: Saturdays, December 12 and 19
The 2026 Christmas market is on Saturday, December 12 and Saturday, December 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at École Saint-Jean-Baptiste, 2580, rue de l'Église. These dates are published by Marchés d'Ici and listed by the AMPQ.
Don't want to wait until December? The fall market is held on Saturdays, November 7 and 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Val-David church (2494, rue de l'Église), with about twenty producers. The winter market then takes over at the same place, every other Saturday, from January 30 to May 8, 2027.
Good to know: a Slow Food-accredited market
In 2022, Marchés d'Ici announced that its Val-David market had become the first "Earth Market" (Marché de la Terre) in Quebec, an accreditation from the Slow Food movement, and the second in Canada after the one in Bouctouche. The summer market is 26 years old: it runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May 23 to October 17, 2026, at 1361, rue de l'Académie, in the heart of the village across from the church, with 50 to 65 producers in season.
The organization says it wants to reduce the carbon footprint of food by shortening the distance between producers and your plate. The Val-David market receives financial support from Quebec's Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ) and from the Municipalité de Val-David.
