The Marché fermier du Vieux Saint-Lambert: a community market, summer and winter
Run by volunteers, the Marché fermier du Vieux Saint-Lambert brings together producers who are mostly based less than 100 km away. After the summer Thursdays, it moves inside the Centre multifonctionnel one Saturday a month, with a Christmas market on December 12 and 13, 2026.

In Vieux Saint-Lambert, on Rue Hooper, facing Parc Mercille and the Centre multifonctionnel, the Marché fermier (farmers' market) puts local residents in direct contact with producers and artisans. The Association des marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ, the Quebec public markets association) describes it as a citizen-led, volunteer initiative. It is organized by the non-profit À la fortune du pot, which says it receives no government, regional or municipal subsidies and is entirely self-financed.
What stands out is the attention paid to where food comes from. Among its selection criteria, the market looks for a production site within a 100 km radius, responsible growing practices and distinctive products, and it says the vast majority of its vendors come from within that radius. That's the whole point of local markets: knowing where what you buy comes from, and who you owe it to.
From organic vegetables to northern nuts: what you'll find on the stalls
The AMPQ listing counts 25 to 30 stalls and a varied offering: fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, cheese, charcuterie, bread and pastries, honey and maple syrup, jams and pickles, herbs and spices, prepared meals, flowers and plants, teas and herbal teas, non-timber forest products and alcoholic beverages.
The producers page on the official website gives a good idea of the variety: Les Jardins de la Grelinette, an organic market-garden micro-farm, Au Jardin des noix and its northern nuts and hazelnuts, Mystic Mycellium and its mushrooms, Porcherie Ardennes (pork, pasture-raised chicken and eggs), Ferme aux Mille Cailloux (apples, strawberries and maple syrup), L'échoppe des fromages, the La mie Goudène bakery and Fumoir de la Loutre, which makes smoked salmon. Other producers come occasionally, and the market posts the list of vendors on its website and on Facebook.
Holiday season 2026: Christmas market and winter Saturdays
The Christmas market is usually held on the second weekend of December. According to the AMPQ listing, the 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., inside the Centre multifonctionnel. In mid-October, the market's own page still showed the 2025 edition (December 13 and 14), so check the website before you go. It promises local terroir products, artisanal treats, ready-to-eat dishes and local gifts, along with live music according to the AMPQ.
For the rest of the cold season, the market comes back once a month, on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the main hall of the Centre multifonctionnel. The AMPQ announces a restart on November 14, 2026, and the following dates had not yet been published. Last cold season, it was held in November, then in February, March and April, with a break in January. To fill your réveillon table, our traditional Quebec holiday recipes can give you ideas.
Good to know before you go
In summer, the market is held outdoors every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.: the 2026 season runs from May 7 to October 15. According to the AMPQ, it's easy to get there on foot, by bike or by car, there is bike parking and public transit runs nearby. If you're driving, the market suggests parking on Rue Notre-Dame and the surrounding streets.
Most stalls accept Interac and credit cards, and an ATM is close by. There's also a picnic area and food stalls. Leave your dog at home, though: the market points out that regulations prohibit pets in Quebec public markets.
