Drummondville has had its own public market since 1864. Located downtown, on Rue Saint-Jean, it presents itself as a meeting place where people come for fresh products, vendors’ advice and tastings. Some stalls have been there for decades, sometimes for generations.

The market is open year-round on Fridays and Saturdays, and adds a Tuesday morning from May to October, when vendors also set up outdoor stalls. According to the Association des marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ), it has 26 to 35 stalls in a permanent covered structure.

Fruit, vegetables, meat, bread and fish

The market’s website talks about colourful fruit and vegetables, quality traceable meats, fresh cheeses and homestyle breads, not to mention the smell of roast chicken, freshly ground coffee and ripe strawberries. The AMPQ listing rounds out the list: deli meats, fish and seafood, honey and maple syrup, jams and pickles, herbs and spices, teas and coffees, flowers and plants, non-timber forest products, prepared meals, international foods and alcoholic beverages.

Among the vendors featured on the website in October 2026 are seasonal producers such as Ferme Christian Desnoyers, Ferme Germain Desmarais and Ferme des Ormes, Les Récoltes Marcotte (fruit and vegetables), bakeries and pastry shops (Boulangerie Pelletier, L’Arôme du Blé, Galoto, Abricot Pâtisserie), Brûlerie des cantons, Ô Comptoir à Poissons, Maestro Pasta and ready-to-eat counters, including a Vietnamese kitchen. Holiday season 2026: hours to be confirmed

As of October 15, 2026, the market had not published its 2026 holiday hours. In 2025, the AMPQ listing announced a holiday period from November 7 to December 21, with regular hours (Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), noting that the market would be closed on certain days and that its Facebook page would list them.

Since it is open all year, the market remains a handy place to stock your fridge in December. Before planning a visit around Christmas or New Year’s Day, check the closing days on its Facebook page. And for inspiration, take a look at our traditional réveillon recipes.

Good to know: a co-op that took over from the City

In 1990, the City of Drummondville, which was then running the market, was having serious difficulties with it. About twenty vendors and regional producers founded the Coopérative du Marché de Drummondville to take it over. In 2014, the co-op invested $300,000 to update the market’s decor and image, and that same year the market won two awards at the Gala des Napoléon of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Drummond. Every week, the market also donates perishable food from its vendors to the Comptoir alimentaire Drummond.

On site, the AMPQ lists washrooms, an eating area, parking (including for bikes), an electric vehicle charging station, free Wi-Fi and card payment at most stalls. Public transit runs nearby, and Kéroul recognizes the market as partially accessible to people with reduced mobility.
