Marché public de la Vallée-de-l’Or in Val-d’Or: regional products at the Place Agnico Eagle

Since 2016, the Marché public de la Vallée-de-l’Or has had a place of its own in Val-d’Or: the Place Agnico Eagle, a permanent structure in Parc Pierret. In summer, the market comes alive there on Sundays, and its 2026 Christmas market is scheduled for Sunday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Val-d’Or, the public market has its own venue: the Place Agnico Eagle, in Parc Pierret, a permanent structure that shelters vendors and shoppers from the weather, fully or partly. It’s where the Marché public de la Vallée-de-l’Or, a non-profit organization, promotes food and craft products from the region.

Why go? To stock up on regional products while talking directly with the people who make them, and because the market isn’t limited to summer: on top of its Sunday summer season, the organization offers a Christmas market and four winter markets.

Fruit, vegetables, cheese and regional crafts

According to the listing of the Association des Marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ), Quebec’s public market association, the market has 20 to 40 booths. You’ll find fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, charcuterie, fish and seafood, bread and pastries, honey and maple syrup, jams and pickles, herbs, flowers and plants, prepared meals, non-timber forest products, herbal teas, tea and coffee, products with flavours from elsewhere and alcoholic beverages. Crafts from the region have their place too.

On site, the AMPQ mentions food booths, a picnic area, washrooms, car and bike parking and free Wi-Fi, with an ATM and public transit nearby. Most booths accept Interac and credit cards.

Holiday season 2026: Christmas market on November 29

The market has opened vendor registration for its 2026 Christmas market, scheduled for Sunday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The registration page offers indoor and outdoor spots but doesn’t specify the venue. In 2025, the holiday market took place on Sunday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 1300, 8e Rue, the address of the Place Agnico Eagle, according to the AMPQ listing.

The organization also holds four winter markets, but their dates for winter 2026-2027 had not been published by mid-October. As for the Sunday season, the Val-d’Or market page was still showing Sunday, October 4, 2026 as the next date when we checked. Good to know: from 2006 to the Place Agnico Eagle

The Marché public de Val-d’Or was founded on December 20, 2006, growing out of the Table de concertation en agroalimentaire de la Vallée-de-l’Or, a regional agri-food round table. In February 2012, it became the Marché public de la Vallée-de-l’Or. After a permanent structure project was submitted to the city in 2009 and preparatory work began in Parc Pierret in 2014, the Place Agnico Eagle was inaugurated in July 2016. The Ville de Val-d’Or owns it and has entrusted its management to the market.

The organization also runs markets in Malartic, at a new site at 561, rue Royale, next to the Saint-Martin church, and in Senneterre, in the 8e Rue parking lot between the church and the elementary school.
