On the west side of the island of Montréal, in the heart of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Marché Sainte-Anne is a Saturday get-together that follows the seasons. From May to October, it sets up outdoors, by the water, next to the promenade. From November to April, it moves somewhere warm: St-George's Anglican Church, on Rue Perrault.
The market was started in 2000 by a group of environmental supporters from McGill University's nearby Macdonald campus. It began with seven vendors; today it has more than 40 in summer and draws about 1,500 visitors every Saturday, according to its website. Its mission: to meet the demand for quality local products, including certified organic ones, while making room for community groups, the arts and free workshops. Vendors go through a demanding selection process, too.
What you'll find at Marché Sainte-Anne
The market's website lists fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, sweet treats, international dishes, specialty foods, coffee and tea. The listing of the Association des marchés publics du Québec (AMPQ) adds artisans' products and prepared foods: jams, ethnic dishes with or without gluten, poultry, beef, pastries, oils, spices, fine teas, tofu and artisanal pasta.
The vendor list posted online, which doesn't say which vendors come in winter, gives a good sense of the market's spirit: market garden farms such as Ferme Quinn and Ferme Léger, orchards such as Verger Hudson and Verger Labonté, Les 400 pieds de champignons, Ferme Lauzon for cheeses and meats, specialty products such as those from Érablière des Roy or Noola Pasta, teas from Maison de thé Ochadô, and artisans working in ceramics, soap or jewellery. The winter market and the 2026 holiday season
The winter market runs on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St-George's church, 23 Rue Perrault. According to the AMPQ listing, the winter season starts on November 7, 2026, the Saturday after the last day of the summer market (October 31). The market's website announces a last pre-holiday market on Saturday, December 19, 2026, then a return on January 16, 2027; according to the AMPQ, the winter season then continues until April 24, 2027.
No separate holiday market has been announced for 2026. In 2025, the AMPQ listed a holiday market on Saturday, December 20. This year, Saturday, December 19, should therefore be your last chance to stock up at the market before the réveillon. Good to know before you go
The winter market started in 2006, in the St-George's church hall. In summer (from May 2 to October 31 in 2026), the market runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kawenothiion Park, formerly Lalonde Park. It also holds an annual Garlic Festival, which took place on August 22 in 2026.
A few house rules: dogs are not allowed on site, and you're asked to park your bike or walk it beside you inside the market. With some 1,500 visitors per Saturday, Time Out advised in 2024 arriving early to get the best selection.
