At the corner of Rue Saint-Ambroise and Avenue Atwater, right next to the Christmas tree sellers, Place du Marché Atwater takes on a festive look in December. The Village de Noël de Montréal, a Christmas village of Quebec artisans, returns there from November 26 to December 24, 2026, over four weekends of festivities, with a few extra days just before Christmas.
The event is organized by La Lutinerie, a Montréal non-profit that also runs the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal on Place des Festivals. Admission is free, and the program is aimed first and foremost at families. Since the neighbouring public market stays open, it's a chance to combine your gift shopping with your holiday groceries; our article on the benefits of local markets explains why it's worth it.
What you'll find at the Village de Noël
The Village brings together 59 Quebec artisans, local and regional, who offer ethical and eco-responsible products, according to the organizer. Tourisme Montréal mentions local creations and regional products, tastings and snack stands. The online artisan directory, still the 2025 one in mid-October, is divided into jewellery, drinks, cosmetics, decorations and miscellaneous items, children's items, food products, clothing and accessories.
As for the atmosphere, the theme is the "Royaume des lutins" (the elves' kingdom): children can visit Santa's office and take part in activities to help the elves and Santa save Christmas. More than 90 free activities are announced, and Tourisme Montréal mentions free photo sessions with Santa on Saturdays and Sundays. The detailed calendar is to be published on the event's website.
