Heat pump installers in the Eastern Townships

In the Eastern Townships, two nearby weather stations tell two different stories. In Lennoxville, January averages -9.5 °C and the year adds up to 4,573 heating degree-days. At the "Sherbrooke" station, 16 km from the city centre, it's -10.8 °C and 4,877 degree-days (1991–2020 normals), and it recorded -41.2 °C on January 15, 2004. Exactly where you live matters, and your installer should account for it.
Go with an ENERGY STAR Cold Climate model and keep your backup heating. According to Hydro-Québec, below their minimum operating temperature, between -15 °C and -25 °C for newer models, air-source heat pumps leave all the heating to the backup system.
The region has several distributors: Hydro-Sherbrooke, Hydro-Magog (part of Magog), Hydro-Coaticook and, in Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton and Sainte-Sabine, the Coopérative régionale d'électricité de Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Rouville. Their customers are eligible for LogisVert just like Hydro-Québec's: $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C for a Cold Climate unit, $50 for an ENERGY STAR model. In Granby, the city adds 25% of the rebate you receive, up to $500, but its 2026 budget is used up; it suggests checking back in early 2027. It was in Sherbrooke that the Prime Minister announced, on October 8, 2026, a $2,000 federal rebate (up to $10,000 for households below the median income), which isn't open yet. Chauffez vert is closed, the free heat pump isn't taking 2026–2027 registrations and Rénoclimat no longer funds heating.
Before you sign, check the RBQ register for subclasses 15.9 or 15.10 and 15.1, 15.7 or 15.8, then ask for proof of CMMTQ or CETAF membership. For heat pumps, the licence must also include a refrigeration subclass (15.9 or 15.10). When a subclass that Hydro-Québec requires for LogisVert is missing (15.1, 15.7 or 15.8 for a heat pump; 11.2 or 13.5, and 16, for solar panels), the listing says so.
