In the Eastern Townships, the solar math isn't the same from one town to the next. Start by checking who sends your electricity bill.
Without net metering, only the kWh you use while the panels are producing lower your bill, so a smaller system matched to your daytime needs makes more sense. LogisVert remains available to customers of municipal and co-op utilities: $1,000 per kW, up to 40% of the cost, for installations completed since June 30, 2025, provided you attach the utility's written authorization to your application.
According to Natural Resources Canada, one kilowatt facing due south and tilted at the latitude angle produces 1,148 kWh a year in Sherbrooke, 1,146 in Magog and 1,159 in Granby. A 5 kW system therefore yields 5,730 to 5,795 kWh a year.

For heat pumps, the licence must also include a refrigeration subclass (15.9 or 15.10). When a subclass that Hydro-Québec requires for LogisVert is missing (15.1, 15.7 or 15.8 for a heat pump; 11.2 or 13.5, and 16, for solar panels), the listing says so.
