In Nord-du-Québec, the cold comes first: January averages -18.5°C in Chapais, near Chibougamau, and -23.3°C in Kuujjuaq (1991–2020 normals). Our sources list no major recent regional outage, but at these temperatures, every power cut matters.
The network that supplies you changes everything. North of the 53rd parallel, communities served by an off-grid system, such as Inukjuak, have their own domestic rate (Rate DN), and Rate Flex D is not offered on any off-grid system. The LogisVert guide also sets special conditions for Nunavik. If your home is connected to Hydro-Québec's main grid, Flex D is available: electricity costs 46.463¢/kWh during winter peak demand events, and a battery can take over during those hours.
Band councils and Indigenous communities or nations recognized by the National Assembly are among the owners eligible for Rénoclimat. Since October 1, 2026, the program pays up to $4,000 for a fixed battery of at least 5 kWh in a principal residence, permanently connected to the panel, with a true sine wave inverter (1.2 kW continuous, 2.5 kW surge), grid-connected and compliant with Hydro-Québec standard E.12-07. No stacking with other public assistance for the same work, and LogisVert excludes storage.
One thing to check early: the application guide for standard E.12-07 calls for a communicating meter, an Internet connection and the possibility of a wired link between the inverter and the router.
