In Capitale-Nationale, the 2022 holiday storm left its mark. On December 25 at 11 a.m., about 39,000 customers in the region were still without power, the highest count among the regions Hydro-Québec named, and some 9,500 households were still waiting at noon on December 27. Seven months earlier, the May 21, 2022 derecho had put the region among the five hardest hit.
The whole region is served by Hydro-Québec, so Rate Flex D is available. From December 1 to March 31, Hydro-Québec announces 4-hour peak demand events the day before, by 3 p.m., within the 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. windows. During those hours, electricity costs 46.463¢/kWh. A battery recharged off-peak can power the house during the event, within the limits of its output and capacity. But Flex D rules out net metering: if your solar panels are enrolled in that option, your battery will mainly serve during outages.
With Rénoclimat, for work done since October 1, 2026, a fixed battery qualifies for up to $4,000 if it is permanently connected to the panel, stores at least 5 kWh and runs on an inverter compliant with Hydro-Québec standard E.12-07: true sine wave, 1.2 kW continuous, 2.5 kW surge, not isolated from the grid. Secondary residences and portable batteries are excluded. You must apply within 12 months of the work, and before March 31, 2029. LogisVert, for its part, does not fund storage.

When a subclass that Hydro-Québec requires for LogisVert is missing (15.1, 15.7 or 15.8 for a heat pump; 11.2 or 13.5, and 16, for solar panels), the listing says so.
