Solar panel installers in the Laurentians

In the Laurentians, the potential calculated by Natural Resources Canada hovers around 1,190 kWh per kilowatt per year: 1,184 in Saint-Jérôme, 1,193 in Mirabel, 1,195 in Mont-Tremblant and 1,187 in Mont-Laurier, for panels facing due south and tilted at the latitude angle. For a 5 kW system in Saint-Jérôme: 5 × 1,184 = about 5,920 kWh a year. The whole region is served by Hydro-Québec, with net metering: your surplus becomes kWh credits, reset every 24 months (the balance is credited at 4.730¢ per kWh).
Thinking about the cottage? LogisVert, with its $1,000 per kW (up to 40% of the cost, installations since June 30, 2025), accepts a cottage-type house if it can be lived in year-round. As for snow, Hydro-Québec considers clearing unnecessary in most cases, with a suitable tilt and panels raised about 45 cm (18 in.). Also have the roof and its structural capacity assessed before installation.
The region knows long outages: 110,000 customers in the Laurentians lost power after the heavy snow of December 2012, and about 110,000 again during the April 2023 ice storm. If your goal is to keep power during an outage, Hydro-Québec points instead to adding a battery, which LogisVert doesn't cover. Rénoclimat offers up to $4,000 for a fixed battery installed after October 1, 2026, but only in a principal residence, so not at a secondary cottage. See home battery installers in the Laurentians.
