In Chaudière-Appalaches, the potential calculated by Natural Resources Canada varies little: 1,136 kWh per kilowatt per year in Lévis, 1,144 in Saint-Georges and 1,133 in Thetford Mines, for panels facing due south and tilted at the latitude angle. For a 5 kW system in the Beauce: 5 × 1,144 = about 5,720 kWh a year. The whole region is served by Hydro-Québec: no municipal utility, and access to net metering, which turns your surplus into kWh credits. The accumulated balance is credited at 4.730¢ per kWh when the bank resets, every 24 months.
Good to know outside the towns: for the solar measure, LogisVert also accepts accessory buildings such as a garage, a shed or a storage building. If you'd rather mount panels on the ground, Hydro-Québec notes that municipal rules can differ depending on the type of installation, roof or ground: check with your municipality before you decide.
LogisVert pays $1,000 per kilowatt (installations since June 30, 2025), up to 40% of the cost: $5,000 for 5 kW, if the project costs at least $12,500. The grant doesn't cover roof repairs, engineering plans or storage: if your roof needs redoing, do it first.
To compare quotes, insist that each one states the total capacity in kW (the basis for the grant), the make and model of the panels and inverter, and the RBQ licence number: LogisVert requires this information on the invoice. The connection goes through a master electrician who is a CMEQ member and files the request with Hydro-Québec before you buy. Hydro-Québec also recommends NABCEP certification.
